'...i fed them pop tarts...'
Eli and I stayed in Friday night and watched "Earth Girls Are Easy." Remember that one? Hilarious 80s movie! And Geena Davis is a mega babe. Loving movies that break out in the occasional (or frequent) song and dance! I love that everything is available on youtube these days! Check out the trailer below. And here's the NY Time's review of the flick from 1989. So rad.

dear summer...
I am seriously missing all things SUMMER. I've been daydreaming about days at the river, bike riding through the warm summer nights, sandals, sundresses, swimming pools, sunshine, BBQs, park days, outdoor music, day-trips, blankets & books in the park... I could go on forever.
I must say I am quite pleased that January is over. It was mostly gray and cold. And I found it difficult to muster up the motivation to do anything or go anywhere! But now the days are proving to be a bit longer and I am starting to get extremely excited about all the things ahead in the next few months that lead us into summer!
In my January slump, I kept myself sane by making lists of goals and plans for this summer. I am mostly excited about the garden Eli and I are going to start in our backyard. We are newbies at this and will be looking to our experienced friends and family for some direction. The good news is we have tons of space to play with! I am also pumped about the fact that Trisha moved into a midtown apartment with a pool... I'm hoping she hooks me up with a key!
And here are a few summery moments from 2009:
biking to the river with t & l and our always lovely setup
rallying for love and equality with Corine Richard & Orson
family dinner on the deck in Santa Cruz
beach bumming with Omar
hot summer date with this guy
watching MC Hammer at the state fair with these rad ladies

top 10 !
1.) heckasac
Local Sacramento blogger.
Fashion blog from RENO ♥.
Vegan feminist being rad in Saudi Arabia.
4.) taste spotting
This is basically a search engine for food. You type in any kind of food or dish and it will pull up all sorts of different links to recipes and such. It is awesome! (This is good for the random veggie I come home from the farmer's market with and have NO clue how to prepare it.. I just type the name in the little search box and voila, tons of different recipes with cute lil preview polaroid style pics)
Because I really could stare at typeface all day long.
Because it's just so nasty.
Keeping me in the know.
8.) style rookie
I, along with the whole world, have fallen in love with this 13 year old fashion blogger. (Who recently got a bit of heat at the Dior fashion show for wearing this hat)
Inspires.
Art blog that I really enjoy.
I can't stop at 10! Here's one more:

oh reno, how you do me right.
h i g h l i g h t s:
* Cute cafe/bakery stop -our first stop...where we picked up the cake Z ordered for Dom.
* A little shopping - Junkee Shoppe. And the first thrift store we were able to locate. They really are around every corner - you just need your eyes wide open and to be totally ready to flip a bitch at any given time. This one was found in the midst of almost giving up, frantically searching our iPhones, and almost stressing - when alas, a gentleman was standing on the sidewalk of the intersection we were stopped at holding a Salvation Army This Way sign! How perfect is that ?! I totally have a new appreciation for those sign guys/gals now.
* Liquor store across from Hotel - where a man came rushing in asking if they sell glass tubes...hmm.
* Also where we purchased some beverages for the evening - including Southern Comfort! Taking Trish on a trippy flashback to high school.
* Chapel Tavern for Dom's birthday - where the fresh squeezed greyhounds just kept coming.
* Cab ride home - with a crazy cab driver. A quick stop at Jimboys for that perfect end of the night meal.
* Some funny girl talk in our hotel room - while eating our burritos - probably lasted 7 minutes max.
* Lights out.
* I woke up the next morning filled with energy and a desire to jump out of bed and do something. So I grabbed my camera and hit the Reno streets at 745 am to search for some kitschy Reno typeface!
* Then brunch with Z & Dom - and a nice driving tour of Reno and the River Walk.
* All in all... the perfect trip.
You can find all the photos here: Reno - below are some of my favs.

dissecting suburbia...
With Eli currently in graduate school, I find myself missing academia quite a bit. My new favorite thing to do is edit Eli's papers. His urban planning classes are so fascinating. I find myself shuffling through all his books and readings for class daily. One of his professors assigned him a video to watch. It is a 20 minute talk by writer James Kunstler, titled "Dissecting Suburbia."
We watched this Sunday evening while we ate dinner together. It was my last cooked meal for a week. That's right folks, I am raw until next Monday!
Anyhow - back to that Kunstler video. If you have 20 minutes - and have any interest in your public surroundings... take a peek. This video is good!! Enjoy!
